This is how we show up

Come as you are.

Shikibuntu is not a club you join. It is a practice you return to. No requirements. No perfect lifestyle. Just a willingness to be honest about where you are — and curious about how to move, together.

Monthly Virtual Circle

Contaminados Anónimos

Completely free · Open to all

Like Alcoholics Anonymous — but for conscious humans who recognise that we are shaped by systems that harm the planet, and that we also contribute to them.

No judgment. No perfection. Just honest humans gathering to explore one issue at a time, and share how we can do better. Together. One step at a time.

Each session we sit with one theme — fast fashion, native fauna, food waste, water, plastic. We share what we already do, what we struggle with, what we’ve learned. We leave with something small and real we can try.

This is not a lecture. It is a circle.

📍 Online via Zoom — open to the whole world · Next session: date to be confirmed

Stay in the circle

Don’t miss the next one.

Sessions open up without much warning. Leave your email and we’ll reach out when the next circle opens — nothing else, nothing more.

Upcoming in person

When we gather on land.

Some of what Shikibuntu does happens in a room, in a forest, on a beach. We plant trees. We sing. We play. We restore land and we restore ourselves. Nothing is confirmed yet — but this is what it looks like when it happens.

Upcoming Event · Date to be confirmed

Rewilding Gippsland

A two-day retreat in nature. We plant trees. We do yoga. We sing in choir. We play together. We restore land and we restore ourselves.

About Gala

I am a biologist and frontline conservation activist, having worked across the globe in marine protection, reef conservation, jungle ecosystems, wildlife rescue, and direct action campaigns.

I have seen ecological devastation firsthand, but also how activism can burn out the very people trying to save our planet. Shikibuntu was not born in a boardroom; it emerged from frustration, heartbreak, hope, and a love for this Earth.

My life has been dedicated to protecting ecosystems and reminding people of their inherent power. Being told I cared "too deeply" only fuelled my resolve to create spaces where deep care is celebrated, not extinguished.
